  Overview  
  System administrators and managers have the overall responsibility for defining and maintaining the system's configurable parameters. This relatively new role has emerged as radio systems have become larger and more complex. The responsibilities include the following:

• defining the group structure or fleetmap
• maintaining unit and group databases
• defining wide-area roaming capabilities
• planning radio feature usage and personalities/profiles
• configuring dispatch consoles
• enabling and disabling units
• generating reports, and
• analyzing system performance
 
 
 
 

EDACS/ProVoice System Administrative Training
 
     
  EDACS/ProVoice Administrative Training Flowchart

  Introduction to EDACS (YTSP7F)
This course provides an overview of the features and capabilities of EDACS and ProVoice systems for both technical and non-technical personnel. Topics covered include an introduction to EDACS and ProVoice equipment, components, and operational processes. Participants will also be introduced to group structuring and the various trunked system configurations from a basic system through multisite networks.
 
     
  EDACS System Administration (YTSP3N)
This course is strongly recommended for individuals responsible for system implementation and management. It provides an understanding of terminology, equipment, components, and operational processes associated with EDACS and ProVoice. The topics covered include group structuring, radio programming, system database requirements, console configuration using the CEC/IMC Manager, and implementation processes.
 
     
  AFS Structure Workshop (YTSP3R)
This workshop assists new customers in defining the agency/fleet/subfleet group structure and planning radio personalities. The advantages of different structures are explored and structuring experience gained from other customers is shared. System configuration options (i.e., wide-area roaming and emergency calls) are also explored.
 
     
  EDACS System Management Workshop (YTSP3P)
This hands-on workshop allows participants to implement the knowledge acquired during the EDACS System Administration course. Participants are divided into teams to plan, implement, and operate the Training Center's EDACS system based on the communication requirements of an imaginary town. Activities include defining a group structure, planning radio personalities, establishing Communications Systems Director (CSD) databases, configuring dispatch consoles, programming radios, and operating the system. Completion of EDACS System Administration (YTSP3N) is a prerequisite for this course.
 
     
  Communications Systems Director (YTSN1F)
This course provides classroom and hands-on instruction on the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the Communications Systems Director (CSD). Topics include database management, system monitoring, radio controls, and report generation. The course is designed for system administrators and managers, engineers, and technicians who operate and maintain the CSD in an EDACS or ProVoice system. Completion of either the EDACS System Administration (YTSP3N) or Introduction to EDACS System Maintenance (YTSP3U) course is a prerequisite.
 
     
  Console Configuration (YTSN3H)
This course provides dispatch supervisors and system administrators and managers with the knowledge and skills to configure the C3 Maestro Dispatch Console including operational functions and screen layout. Participants learn how to setup the operation and layout of the console using the CEC/IMC Manager and the User-Definable Screen (UDS) configuration program.
 
     
 
 
 

EDACSIP System Administrative Training

  EDACSIP System Administration (YTSN7V)
This course is strongly recommended for individuals responsible for system implementation and management. It provides an understanding of terminology, equipment, components, and operational processes associated with an EDACSIP system. Additional topics covered include talkgroup fleet mapping, radio programming, system database configuration options, and implementation processes.

This course is three (3) days in length for customers making the transition from an EDACS to an EDACSIP system.
 
     
  EDACSIP Structuring Workshop (YTSN7W))
This workshop assists customers new to EDACSIP in defining the talkgroup fleet mapping and planning radio personalities. The advantages of different group mappings are explored and structuring experience gained from other customers is shared. System configuration and radio programming options (i.e., wide-area roaming, priorities, and emergency calls) are also explored.

This workshop is recommended for new customers as well as customers making the transition from an EDACS to an EDACSIP system.
 
     
  Unified Administration System(YTSN6B)
The purpose of this course is to provide system administrators and managers with the ability to create and maintain system databases using the Unified Administration System (UAS). This hands-on course requires an in-depth understanding of the job functions within the customer’s organization as well as an operational understanding of the radio system. Course topics include logging into the UAS, establishing user accounts, navigating through the user interface, creating and changing parameter values, and adding/deleting radio users and talkgroups. Completion of the EDACSIP System Administration (YTSN7V) course is a prerequisite.
 
     
  Console Configuration (YTSN3H)
This course provides dispatch supervisors and system administrators and managers with the knowledge and skills to configure the C3 MaestroIP Dispatch Console including operational functions and screen layout. Participants learn how to setup the operation and layout of the console using the User-Definable Screen (UDS) configuration program.
 
     
  Regional Network Manager (YTSN3V)
This course provides participants with the ability to monitor and manage the system using the Regional Network Manager (RNM). Course topics include system access, monitoring the status of system equipment, identification and acknowledgement of system faults, historical views of system performance, exploring real-time viewers, and running activity and status reports on system performance.

  Over-The-Air Rekeying (YTSN6C)
This course provides encryption key management personnel with the knowledge and skills to manage encryption keys using the Network Key Management Facility (KMF) product in a P25IP network. This includes defining Crypto Officer Administration classes and user privileges; managing Crypto Officer user accounts; configuring crypto nets; and rekeying talkgroups, users and system keys using the Unified Administration System (UAS). Completion of the Unified Administration System (YTSN6B) course is a recommended prerequisite.

  Introduction to OpenSky (YTSN3T)
The purpose of this course is to provide technical and non-technical personnel with a high-level understanding of the OpenSky network. Course topics include system architecture, standard equipment and components, basic system configuration, communication protocols, system features, provisioning, wide-area roaming, voice communication features, and network management capabilities.
 
     
  OpenSky System Administration (YTSN6E)
This course is strongly recommended for individuals responsible for system implementation and management. It provides an understanding of terminology, equipment, components, and operational processes associated with OpenSky. The topics covered include the fleet map, radio personalities, system database configuration options, and implementation processes.
 
     
  OpenSky Fleet Mapping Workshop (YTSN5N) This workshop assists new customers in defining the system’s fleet map and planning radio personalities. Operational considerations are explored and experience gained from other customers is shared. System configuration options (i.e., wide-area roaming and priorities) are also explored.  
     
  Unified Administration System (YTSN6B)

NetworkFirst Administrative Training
 
     
  NetworkFirst Operation & Administration (YTSN5A)
This course provides system administrators and managers with the knowledge and skills to configure and use the Unified Administration System (UAS) to manage talkgroups for both planned and unplanned interoperability events. The training includes an overview of the features and capabilities of NetworkFirst and an introduction to NetworkFirst equipment, components, and operational processes such as how to re-program the interoperability gateways. Participants are also introduced to the Regional Network Manager (RNM), which is used to view network talkgroup activity, monitor Digital Voice Unit (DVU) status, and generate performance summary reports.
